A KAP session above a lone homestead

Hi all! Here are a couple of photos from a nice (and wild!) kite aerial photography session over a lone homestead hidden in the remote, mysterious and beautiful Zaplana hills above Ljubljana, central Slovenia. Check out the whole story here ... Shot with Nikon P330 on a Great White Delta kite.

  • Beautiful images, as always. What height were you flying?
  • Thanks! :-)

We had some 300 m of line ... and the delta was wild, so it's hard to tell - from 100-200 m?
  • It's good that you have the freedom to fly at such heights. Other places often have much lower limits, of course.
  • Looks great. Love the high shots and the yellow kite line! ;-)

@NZflier - true. A couple of months ago someone reported us to the civil aviation authority alleging breaking the drone rules (which are very strict in Slovenia), and the CAA ruled that kites are not drones and therefore not subject of those rules :-)

@WindWatcher - thanks :-) ... the line is very visible and it helps ...
  • Great to know that the authorities appreciate the difference between a drone and a kite! Let's hope they don't decide to change the rules and you can continue your wonderful work at high altitude.
  • thanks - we hope so too! :-)

Okay, I have NEVER CLAIMED that I was the sharpest tool in the shed.

That said, it is now the year 2020, and some people STILL do not comprehend the difference between a drone and a kite?

And people wonder why I have such little faith in humanity.

    GOOD ON 'YA, KAP_Jasa!!!!

    :-)))

the thing is that we published some kite aerial photos of a research nuclear reactor near Ljubljana, and someone freaked out - thinking not only were we taking pictures from the air (probably illegaly), but of a *nuclear reactor*! what if enemy spies saw those photos! they didn't even see the word "kite", because they felt it was a national security emergency, a *clear and present danger! :-)

so they reported us to the CAA and the CAA was extremely cool.
